France Legalizes Online Poker

France recently passed a bill to legalize and regulate online poker within the country. The bill provides strict guidelines for casino operators to follow in order to receive a license to operate in the country. France will charge poker a 2% tax while sportsbetting will be charged a 7.5% tax.

The bill is law, but the licenses have not been handed out yet, and will most likely happen towards the end of June 2010.

Many of the top online poker rooms are applying for the French license to start operating legally in the country.
